General Information
Now celebrating our 40th season, the mission of The Boulder Chorale is centered on performance, education and outreach. We serve our membership through intensive vocal training and performance in three ensembles: the 130-voice Boulder Chorale, Boulder’s oldest and largest community chorus; the Boulder Women’s Chorale, devoted to repertoire for treble voices and open to all interested female singers; and the Boulder Chamber Chorale, an auditioned ensemble of 50 voices founded in 2003.
The Chorale collaborates regularly with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed with other regional ensembles including the Longmont, Jefferson, and Timberline Symphony Orchestras, the Mercury Ensemble, the Kutandara Marimba Ensemble, the Colorado Hebrew Chorale, and the Sinfonia of Colorado. Recent seasons have included acclaimed performances of Mozart and Fauré with the Boulder Philharmonic and sold-out performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Rachmaninoff’s The Bells, and Verdi’s Requiem. In addition to performing the great masterworks with orchestra, the Chorale each season presents concerts of smaller works, including new music of living composers, and unaccompanied choral gems from the 16th-20th centuries.
As part of our commitment to outreach and to ensure the future of choral music in our community, the Chorale sponsors several initiatives. The Angel Ticket and $1 Tickets for Children programs strive to increase the accessibility of our concerts. The Young Artists Vocal Competition and the High School Choristers Program expand our commitment to music education in the community.
