My understanding is that the city of Boulder is now working on a drought plan but
is still studying the issues involved (including looking at Connie's tree ring
studies.) Compared with other regional communities, the city of Boulder has a
reputation of being "water rich" since it is less reliant on Colorado
Big-Thompson water from the western side of the continental divide. Towns like
Erie that are struggling trying to find water for the immediate demand would have
much less of a cushion than the city of Boulder-- but it seems to me that
ultimately all front range communities are vulnerable to the prospect of drought
and water shortages.
