•  Sept. 3, 1999 - Sept. 7, 1999 (Labor Day weekend)
•  Teams of 4 from same ship may compete in sailing events.  Sounds

like great fun and great accommodations.  Looks like there are enough
entries for a team.  $25.00 deposit is due to Ann H. by July 21st.
• Kevin P. and Ann H. will be looking into acquiring cheap airfare

(last years rate was about $210).  Any help on this would be appreciated;
Net surfers? travel agents in the family?  Own a Lear Jet?
• In order not to not look like complete landlubbers in Houston,

these events have been scheduled to prepared for the trip and for
advancements a sea scout:
• August 1, 1999 (Sunday) C.U. Events Center 6:00 p.m. Swimming Certification.  James F. will coordinate with Bob and Robert.  Jeff pointed out that one must swim before getting in the boat.
• Friday August 13th through August 14th  - Sea scout weekend.   We will meet at the Painters on Friday afternoon (time to be announced)
• 1. Fix our boat, the U.S.S. Bondo; needs a little work to plug some

holes to seeif shell float.  Bondo donations appreciated.
• 2. Work on Apprentice Advancement in Sea Scout manual (see Ann to

acquire amanual).  Scouts who traveled to Denver to evaluate skipper Cs vessels
willreceive 1 Degree service time.
• 3. Review sailing tapes to learn sailing terminology!!  We would like

to invite Earnie E. and Vince H. (since they are sailors) to work us through the
tapes.  (Time to be announced).
• August 21st and/or August 28th.  Andy M. has offered to teach us to sail on Union Reservoir (time to be announced).
• The Lost Weekend has been found!
•  Saturday July 24th and 25th the Hoy Cross Climb will be lead by Jeff W.  Leave the Church at 8:00 am for an interesting climb and overnight.  Details to follow.
• NOTE:  Venture dues are due!  $13.00 if you are part of a scout troop and $20.00 if not, to Post 72.  Priscilla W. is collecting the dues.
• Also, the ship made a verbal commitment to raise whatever funds are necessary to float their own ship so as not to burden the troop. Details to follow.
