Age 13 and up $3 on Friday, $5 on Sat. and Sunday, 12 and under free with paid adult

Held in conjunction with the Boulder Model Railroad Club Annual Show, December 8-9.

Friday is Kids' Day - special activities and free admission for participating students.

16 Dealers - offering gems, rocks, minerals, lapidary items, tools & supplies, jewelry, fossils, and more!

Exhibits - Cases by club members, dealers, and area clubs and museums. Special exhibits of fluorescent minerals, plus displays from the USGS and Dinosaur Ridge.

                   If you would like to exhibit your finds, work, or collection, please contact Gerry Naugle and submit an application for a case.

Demonstrations - Lapidary, jewelry making, and more at the club table.

Children's Activities - Grab bags, children's wheel, dig site, and more! As a special treat: gold panning by the  Rocky Mountain Prospectors and Treasure Hunters Club on Saturday and Sunday.
 

Classes & Programs Class fees will be posted before the show, and are to be paid to the instructor. Reserve a place in advance by email by December 5, or sign up at the show. Signup sheets for the classes will be at the admissions table. All classes & programs will be in the Exhibit Building classroom.

Talk on Montana’s Dryhead Agates and book signing (4-5 Friday) – Talk by agate expert and dealer John T. Hurst. Copies of his new book, Dryhead Agate (Boulder: Schatzkammerachate Publishing, 2012) will be available for sale and signing after the talk. Free to show attendees.

Our Stone Age Heritage (11-1 Saturday) – Talk and demo by flint knapper Douglas A. Hill. He'll explore the vast impact that stone has had on our species', and the world's, history.  The presentation will include a talk, a demonstration of various types of stone tool production, and a period of hands-on time for attendees.  Hill is the founder and head instructor of Gone Feral - Indigenous Skills, Primitive Technology, and Adventumentary(c) Videography.  For more information, visit his website. Wire-Wrap Pendant Class (1:30-3:30 Saturday) – Beginners' instruction in wire-wrap. Learn how to make a pendant from sterling silver wire, set with a stone cabochon. Cost: $40. Instructor: Caren Johannes.  (If a student buys his or her stone at the show and shows Caren the receipt, she will donate $5 of the fee to the Flatirons Mineral Club Scholarship Fund.) Limited to 5 students. Sign up in advance by e-mail, or sign up at the Admissions Table at the show.

Talk on the amethyst mine at Red Feather Lakes, Larimer County, Colorado (2-3 Sunday) – Talk by USGS geologist Pete Modreski.  Free to show attendees.

The Amazing Minerals Magic Show (3:30-4 Sunday) – presented by Flatirons Mineral Club Junior Geologists, showcasing minerals and rocks with special properties, including double refracting calcite, magnetic magnetite, floating pumice, minerals that conduct electricity, Amish stink rock, triboluminescence quartz, and ulexite or TV stone. Free to show attendees.

Door Prizes - door prizes will be awarded at intervals throughout the show, plus the grand prizes. The grand prize drawing will be held at the end of the show on Sunday. (You must be present to win door prizes, but not the grand prizes)
