General Information and Instructions

Purpose

The mission of the Boulder County Latina Women’s League (BCLWL) is to help increase the graduation rate of young men and women who are graduating from high school and seeking a college degree.  Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to helping the Latino community, especially in encouraging Latinos to achieve academic success.  To achieve our mission, the BCLWL awards scholarships annually to persons who have demonstrated support to the Latino community and who contribute to the Latino community in Boulder County.

Eligibility

1.     Applicant must be planning to attend college for the academic year 2009-2010.
2.    Applicants will be chosen based on answers to the essay questions which demonstrate their commitment to the Latino community.
3.    Applicant must be a Boulder Valley School or St. Vrain Valley School District graduating student or a continuing student.

Application Deadline

Application must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2009.  Late applications will not be accepted.

Application Requirements

1.   Two Letters of Recommendation (one from a counselor/or advisor or teacher and one from a community person).
2.   Letter confirming acceptance into college or university.  This can be submitted separately, but must be turned in prior to payment of the scholarship.
3.   Student Information Form completed.
4.   Provide information and answers to the three questions in a neat and clear format on the attached sheet.  
5. We request that scholarship recipients be present at awards ceremony.
