5. INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
Each group communicates via its own e-mail based distribution list.
Activity on the lists is often high, ranging from six to eight posts per
week. A distribution list is also in place for the general BCN
Community--those who have expressed an interest in being informed about
new activities, events and opportunities. Meetings for each of the above
groups takes place once per month on designated Monday evenings. The
average length of a meeting is two hours, and the distribution lists
serve well in providing meeting agendas and minutes to all members.
5.1 Lessons Learned:
Communications
1. Since much of the volunteer coordination and activities is conducted
via the distribution lists described above, volunteers with very busy
schedules and little time for periodic meetings have been able to
participate to the level that their time allows. However, our volunteer
pool is largely limited to those with Internet access. We are working to
develop alternative methods of communication among volunteers in order to
include a broader spectrum of the community.
