Scott Semple

Hello! My name is Scott. I'm from Denver, Colorado, but now I live in Boulder. After graduating from Colgate University in New York in 1993, I moved to Japan in order to teach English. After travelling around Japan for awhile, I got a job at ECC in Fukuoka. I lived in Fukuoka for three and a half years. During that time, I studied Japanese nearly everyday. Before returning to the States, I passed the Nihongo Nouryouku Shikken, (2-kyuu), a test of Japanese proficiency given by the Department of Education.

When I returned to Colorado, I started an outdoor adventure tour company, Red Hot Rocky Mountain Tours. My goal is to introduce the beauty and excitement of Colorado's Rocky Mountains to Japanese people. I offer instruction in rockclimbing, backpacking, mountain climbing, horseback riding, and minimum impact camping in the summer, and snowboarding, ice climbing and snowshoeing trips in the winter. I also organize white water rafting and hot spring trips. The trips are primarily led in Japanese, however English oriented tours are also available. Usually, the trips are a mix of the two languages, which makes for a lot of fun!
