Summer/Fall 1997 Events in Boulder

June 10
Mr. Tetsuya Suzuki, Yamagata Prefectural Officer will arrive. He will be in Boulder for two months studying English at CU's International English Center. Call Yoko anytime if you can include him in any of your summer activities. (447-3117)!

July 1 - 21
Ms. Chihiro Murakawa, a violinist from Yamagata City will be here for three weeks to participate in the Colorado Music Festival. Ms. Murakawa completed her music education in Europe and just made her professional debut in Japan. Her father, Chiaki Murakawa, is music director of the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra, which has participated in many exchanges with CMF in the past. CMF is looking for a host family for Chihiro during her stay in Boulder. She is a delightful young lady and speaks fluent English. Interested? Give Yoko a call at 447-3117.

July 26
A group of 40 students from Yamagata Prefecture will visit Boulder for a day of sightseeing and fun. They love to shop on Pearl Street. Anyone who wants to be a chaperone for these youngsters for an hour or so on the mall will be treated to a glass of iced tea or lemonade at the Boulder Cafe.

August 9 - 11
The COSMOS International Exchange will bring 20 young people to Boulder. Two of their chaperones from Japan will be Tomiko Omori and Akiko Yamane. both of whom visited Boulder in the past. Would anyone like to organize a "welcome back to Boulder" party for Tomiko and Akiko?

September
Four or five staff members from the Yamagata Prefectural Office will arrive to study city government and volunteer activities in Boulder for 3-4 days. They would like to experience American home life, so we will be looking for host families for these visitors.
