four mile fire department

Four Mile Fire Engine Four Mile Fire Department is an all-volunteer organization that provides professional fire and medical first response to our community. We are located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just west of Boulder, Colorado. Historic towns in our district include Orodell, Crisman, Salina, Summerville, Wallstreet, and Sunset. The population of our district is approximately 2200, spread over an area of 13 square miles.

We respond to around 80 calls (via 911) per year. Our department has 45 rostered volunteers, and about half of those respond regularly. We have four stations which house a total of seven emergency response vehicles: three engines, three water tenders, and one Humvee brush truck.

    What's New & Misc.

    Current Wildfire Danger is:

    Dry Spring
The National Weather Service has declared March 2012 as the driest month on record. Boulder County is under a fire ban. No fireworks of any kind. No fires allowed except liquid-fueled or gas-fueled stoves, fireplaces within a building, charcoal grill fires or permanent fire pits or fire grates at private residences, and permanent fire pits or fire grates located on developed picnic grounds and campgrounds. When burning charcoal, be aware of any hot embers that may fly, and dispose of ashes properly.

Also, please be very careful with cigarette ashes, and don't park your car over grass.

    * Mitigation: Clean pine needles out of your gutters and remove any debris that has accumulated on your roof. Flying embers are a major reason that homes are lost during wildfires.
    * Be Prepared: Stock up on water, candles & batteries!
    * Stay Informed: Visit boulderoem.com to sign up for emergency messages & to download the Emergency Preparedness Guide.
