HEATHERWOOD HOMEOWNERS’ ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES
May 22, 2001
Joe Lanzoni, President of the Heatherwood Home Owners' Association, called the 2001 Annual Meeting to order at 7:10 pm. Lanzoni introduced the speaker, Kerrie Badertscher from the Colorado State University Cooperative Extension, and announced that this meeting was called in accordance with the HOA by-laws.
Next, Lanzoni introduced the other board members: Lorienne Schwenk, the Secretary; Susie Lefebvre, the Vice President, Gary Sekerak, the Treasurer, and Members at Large Scott Dixon, Rod Guy, and Sandra Jambor.
Regarding finances, Lanzoni announced that the HOA is doing well and he thanked Treasurer Gary Sekerak. There is $7625 in cash in the bank. $2775 have been collected so far in dues for 2001. Lanzoni reminded neighbors that the financial books are public and available for all to see.
Lanzoni began a brief discussion about installing benches at six of seven bus stops in Heatherwood. The approximate cost is $2-300 per bench which will be paid for by the HOA. Some residents expressed concern that the benches would lead to more trash at the stops. Lanzoni called for a local installer and asked residents for references.
Sam Barnett reviewed the situation with the Structured Living Arrangement for three registered sex offenders in Heatherwood. Diane DeLeo from the Boulder County Probation Dept. also spoke to residents. In particular, the lease for that house will not be renewed. In the long term, residents hope to develop enforceable rules to replace some vague terms. Barnett also asked for volunteers for a neighborhood watch. The next HOA newsletter will have an article about neighborhood watching by Shira Graff.
Lanzoni announced a plan by the Vice President to line up volunteers to assist the elderly. Those interested were asked to call Susie Lefebvre. Lefebvre also wants current residents to connect with new residents. One resident mentioned that the RSVP program can help elderly folks. Another resident pointed out that our houses are aging and that there are some upcoming expenses. She recommended an educational session for everyone on issues such as aluminum wiring, furnaces, etc.
The annual neighborhood garage sale was announced. It will be June 2 from 8 to 4.
Then, Lanzoni turned the meeting over to Ms. Kerrie Badertscher, who discussed various landscaping and gardening topics that are applicable to our particular area, and who answered lots of residents' questions.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lorienne Schwenk
Secretary, Heatherwood HOA
