Racing the coal-fired steam train from Durango to Silverton for 30 years has made this truly one of America's "classic" bicycle races. This stretch of the San Juan Skyway has grueling climbs and spine tingling descents that test the legs, lungs and stamina of every rider.
On Sunday, June 2nd, join thousands of fun-loving cyclists to celebrate the excitement and comaraderie of cycling in Colorado. Make the annual pilgrimage to Castle Rock for the Rocky Mountain Region's premier cycling adventure - The 2002 Elephant Rock road and off-road cycling adventure. Whether you are six or sixty, prefer to ride on pavement or on dirt, there is a course for riders of all abilities.
All of the rides start and finish at The Douglas County Fair Grounds just a half mile southeast of downtown Castle Rock. Plan to stick around after you finish for the "Party at the Rock" post-ride picnic and cycling expo. Whichever course you choose, you're sure to have an e-rockin' good time.
Walk & BikeWeek will be June 23-30, with Walk & Bike to Work day being Wednesday, June 26. We are in the process of scheduling other biking events throughout the month of June which is Bike Month. Additional events may include bike clinics/tune-ups at the Farmer's Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Bike movies at the outdoor cinema on Saturdays, a flag day celebration on June 14, a father's day celebration on June 16, and a moonlight ride on June 24.

This 15 mile road bike event can be done in one, two or three laps around Turquoise Lake. T-shirts will be provided for all participants, prizes will be awarded for top finishers. Whether you're an avid cyclist or you're simply looking for a great reason to dust off that bike in the garage, you won't want to miss the 10th Annual U.S. Bank MOONLIGHT CLASSIC.
Join Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, along with 1000 cyclists in celebrating this bicycle tour of Colorado's Wine Country. This 25-mile ride through the vineyards of the Western Slope gives the cyclists an opportunity to pass by the area's wineries, as well as acres of fruit orchards and vineyards. The "Festival in the Park" begins shortly after the ride concludes (11 am) and is an additional highlight to the day's activities.

The San Francisco bike movement/protest ride is in Denver. Come join the nationwide movement. Let's get some bike lanes put in the streets of Denver and increase bicycle awareness.
The ride is the last Friday of every Month and meets at Civic Center Park (across from the Capital, near the seal fountain pool on the Colfax side of the park) The ride begins at 6:00 pm and will go through downtown Denver and end up at Auraria Campus.
The Denver Post Ride The Rockies is an annual bicycle tour that takes 2,000 cyclists on a 6-7 day ride on paved roads through Colorado's Rocky Mountains each June. (The 2001 route included 14 miles of hard-packed dirt road on Day 1.) The Ride The Rockies route is different each year, but always climbs a few challenging mountain passes and showcases Colorado's spectacular scenery. Daily rides can be as short as 35 miles or as long as 100 miles, but generally average 60-65 miles.

2001 Ride The Rockies registration fee cost $235 and includes camping space, rest rooms and showers, transportation of one bag during the tour, Ride The Rockies cycling jersey, water bottle, tour map book, shuttle transportation in host communities, Wells Fargo Stage Stop Aid Stations, bike repair vans, sag vehicles and medical support on the tour route.
Limit 225 riders. Based in Cody, WY, will hub for a 435 mile, 6 day tour. Routes include Wapiti Valley, Cheif Joseph Scenic Bypass and Sunlight Basin, Pahaska Teepee, the east entrance to Yellowstone, and Buffalo Bill dam and reservoir. $225/rider includes 5 brefasts and 3 dinners. The tour begins and ends in Loveland, convenient to the Denver Airport. In Estes Park youll embark on the famous Trail Ridge Road for a breath-taking tour of Rocky Mountain National Park. You'll ride to an elevation of 12,183 feet where snow-covered peaks and glacial streams are juxtaposed with brilliant summer wildflowers. You'll ascend to the summit of Rabbit Ears Pass and experience spectacular views of the White River National Forest before descending into Steamboat Springs. The ride from Walden to Laramie winds through the Medicine Bow Range and Routt National Forest. You'll take the challenging high roads on this classic tour...Naturally.
This year's 404 mile loop begins and ends in Gunnison and includes the very best of Colorado, from exciting climbs over six Colorado mountain passes, to overnight stops in Creede, Pagosa Springs, Durango, Ouray and Montrose. The tour averages 65 miles per day, with aid stations every 15-20 miles full of fruit, energy drinks, water and the friendliest Aid Station crews around. Mix that together with a great group of cyclists and epic views and enjoy an unbelievable time!

Join your fellow riders at the 7th Annual Fruita Fat Tire Festival. Experience the world famous "Kokopelli Trail" and the majestic "Bookcliffs" whose trailheads are just minutes from the festival headquarters. Prepare to enjoy the spectacular scenery of high desert, canyonlands, slickrock and the Colorado River Basin, which surround the countryside of Fruita, CO.
Festival events are open to all registered participants. Riding at your own pace is encouraged; an area trail map will be furnished. Local volunteer guides will conduct group rides and rides/times will be posted at the Festival Headquarters in Civic Center Park. Difficulty and pace ratings will be posted for all rides. Ride all day, or night , choose a few events, or customize your weekend with a little bit of everything available. Festival information will be posted throughout the event at the Texaco Information Tent at Civic Center Park. Participants may take part in a chili feed, night rides, Saturday night party, The Spirit of the Rockies Mountain Bike Race Series "The Vegetarian" and rides, rides, rides!

The Vail Daily Hill Climb returns to Vail on Wednesday, June 13 at 5:30 PM. The uphill race sends competitors on an elevations gain of nearly 2,750 vertical feet, and is expected to draw the region's top riders in pursuit of the lucrative $1,500 cash purse. Welcome to the 12th Annual Fat Tire Classic, a two-day mountain bike pledge ride and hike in beautiful Winter Park, Colorado benefiting the American Red Cross. The Fat Tire Classic is the largest fundraiser across the nation for the American Red Cross and it is held right here in Winter Park, one of the premier mountain biking and hiking regions in Colorado. Ask anyone who has participated in the Fat Tire Classic and they will rave about the amenities that have made this event so popular. A 100 mile mountain bike race begins in Vail, Colorado and takes one through the White River National Forest into the Rocky Mountain Peaks for a total climb of 13,000 vertical feet. The Ultra is a competitive race for an elite few, but for most it is a personal test of toughness & perseverance. It is a chance for riders to push their absolute limit, battling only their body, mind & soul to return under the mandatory 13 hour time limit.
Come with us on Santa Fe's 17th Annual Century Ride. A hundred miles of history pass under your wheels as you cycle down the ancient Turquoise Trail through the old mining towns of Madrid and Golden, across the mineral rich Ortiz and San Pedro Mountains, across the Estancia Valley through the villages of Cedar Grove and Stanley and on to the very old but now "IN" village of Galisteo, and 100 miles after you start, wheel back into Old Santa Fe. In addition there are 25, 50, & 75 miles "out and back" to Eldorado, Galisteo, and Stanley respectively. Also, there is an easy 50 mile ATB loop with only 6 miles of country dirt road.
The Community Classic Bike Tour of Northern Colorado is a non-competitive, multi-distance bicycle tour through the beautiful foothills of Larimer County. It's a fun-filled ride that brings together family, friends, co-workers and the biking community in a fund raising event that anyone can enjoy. The money raised is used right here in Larimer County to help support the Chronic Care Dispensary program at the Children's Clinic and the Healthy Beginnings Prenatal Program.
9th Annual Tour de Prairie: The Cheyenne Parks & Recreation Department and the Tour Sponsors are pleased to present the 8th Annual Tour de Prairie cycling event "An Adventure with Nature." The combination of courses ranging from 10 to 100 miles makes the Tour de Prairie a complete cycling adventure. If you like to ride road or mountain bikes, there is a ride for you. A road ride from Evergreen Colorado to Vail over Squaw (11,140), Loveland (11,990), and Vail (10,560) passes for a total of 117 miles and more than 10,000 feet of lung-busting gain in elevation!

The Rocky Mountain Cycling Club (RMCC) is excited to announce the eighth annual Denver-to-Aspen Classic!
In response to demand for more unique and challenging events, RMCC is hosting the one-of-a-kind Denver-Aspen Classic, or D2A. Building on the tradition of California's Markleeville Death Ride and Colorado's own Triple Bypass, the D2A is a one-day tour through the central Rockies that will provide a true measure of your cycling aptitude, endurance and willpower.
As in past years, two route options are available, the 150-mile Standard and the 200-mile Medallion. From suburban Denver to the glamorous mountain resort of Aspen, the Denver-Aspen Classic promises a cycling challange and an achievement you will remember for a lifetime! If this sounds like an event you'd be interested in, select some of the options above to learn more about this unique cycling event!
There are three routes that are available. a 27 mile 1/2 Century Ride, a 100k (60 mile) ride and a 100 mile ride. All of the courses wind through the Black Hills. The 100 mile course takes the ride past Mount Rushmore and the work-in-progress Crazy Horse Memorial. There are aid stations with food and drink along all of the routes. SAG wagons, maintenance vehicles and amateur radio operators patrolling the route for everyone's safety. There is coffee, water, juice, power drinks and breakfast items in the morning and along the route with a meal and refreshments at the finish. There is also a social scheduled for Saturday evening. Usually at a pizza parlor or sub-sandwich shop. Families are welcome and encouraged to bring children. There is no child care provided during the ride but the area is in a 6 mile green-belt park with numerous activities.

What is a Brevet? An ultra-marathon, RAAM-style event conducted under the auspices of the International Randonneurs. Distances must be completed within a specified time limit, and checkpoints and some night riding can be invoved.
