Last Call for Tools for Learning

A total of 136 generous Summit families have pushed the Tools for Learning total to an outstanding $48,800. Once again, these parents and friends have done their part to help Summit continue to set the pace for quality middle school education in Colorado.

We will publish the list of Tools for Learning donors in three different locations: in the next Summit newsletter, in the graduation program, and in the Summit Annual Report. If you would like to join the families who have made this year's drive so successful, please send your check in now.

HELP WANTED

The Parent Volunteer Committee (PVC) is looking for great people to help make our next school year as outstanding as our past four years. We still have openings for people to lead: Back to School (the week school opens), newsletter, hospitality and History Day. As leader, you will be given a list of volunteers to work with you. It will be your responsibility to see that the job gets done.

In addition, we are looking for a group of people who are available during the day on an on-call basis for special projects. Please call Margie Riksheim, 303-440-5457.

Library/Resource Center Volunteers & Donations

If you would like to join the effort to create an innovative Summit Library & Resource Center at our new site, or if you have high quality materials which you feel would be of use to our students and faculty, please call Marti Gorman at 303-494-4488.

Are You Web-Enabled?

The Summit Internet Access Survey has elicited 28 responses representing 33 Summit students to-date. This means that either only 13.2% of our students have access to the Internet from home, or that only 11.2% of our parents have responded to the survey.

If your student has access to the Internet on evenings and weekends at home, and you haven't yet responded, please take a moment to send a blank e-mail message to marthagorman@att.net with Summit Survey - number of students on the subject line. This will help us better plan the Library/Resource Center. Thanks!

Wear Some School Spirit

Are you a proud Summit parent? If you'd like to wear the school logo, order an embroidered denim work shirt. Long-sleeved, high quality and just $30 (check payable to Summit Middle School) to the Office by Friday, May 26. All proceeds will augment the Tools for Learning fund.

A bubble gum blowing contest, science demonstrations, and dozens of hands-on bubble and balloon activities round out the event.
