She will be leaving the Club in February. Consequently, she said that the committee will now, once again, be responsible for all its own administrative arrangements, including: booking meeting rooms, distributing minutes and agendas, etc. Lew explained a little history of City Club membership strategies and how the Club had reached this point. While the Club needs about 2,000 members to maintain its current operations, membership has been steady at about 1,700. Committee members talked about various recruitment and retention strategies--committee members with ideas should talk to Nancy Hedin either at the office or through e-mail at NancyH@pdxcityclub.org Stan presented the latest news about the web site. He has not connected the Tech-Biz page to the main site yet, because it contains links to pages outside the Club--evidently the board would like to approve any such links. The committee suggested that he go ahead and connect the page and that any links the Board does not want associated with the main page will be removed. There was a discussion about whether or not the ballot measure component should be removed from the page since the elections are over. While the election is over, Larry thought the reference should remain, but be changed so that it provided updates on the progress toward implementation of the various measures. Marsha presented the report of the Telecommunications Planning Group--the Group agreed on four topics for programs: (1) The New Telecommunications Industry--a look at the business side of providing telecommunications, (2) The Regulators--government's impact on state and local telecommunications, (3) The Users--new telecommunications activities from the users prospective, and (4) Telecommunications and Education, Distance Learning. Internet Professionals Northwest and Women in Communications--groups with Stan and Marsha, respectively, as members--would like to participate in putting on the series. Marsha and the Group is looking for all kinds of ideas, such as who should be invited to speak and where the meetings should be held. Send suggestions to Marsha at MARSHAS@CANBY.COM Sue announced that her term as liaison to the Program Committee is coming to an end. Talk to Sue if you are interested in that position. The Program Committee meets twice a month (1st. and 3rd. weeks from 4-6 pm). Carol talked about the Archetypes and Imaginations program that is being developed for the Committee in late January-early February. Its focus is on creativity from the human side, rather than from a technological viewpoint.
