Student Stipend Applications

6th Annual PKI R&D Workshop

A limited number of stipends to cover travel, accommodations and/or registration fees are available to full-time students interested in attending the 6th Annual PKI R&D Workshop, jointly sponsored by NIH, NIST, and Internet2, April 17-19, 2007 at NIST in Gaithersburg MD, US.

The deadline for stipend applications is March 31, 2007.

To apply for a stipend, please

  1. Use postal mail or fax to send a signed Participant Stipend Agreement (PDF format) together with confirmation of your current course registration to:

       PKI Stipend Request
       UCAID
       1000 Oakbrook Drive, Suite 300
       Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104
       Fax: 734-913-4255

Note that you should not use the on-line form to register with NIST, since you must pay with a credit card to use that form. If your stipend request is approved, we will send your registration information to NIST, and they will waive the conference fee. You should expect a confirmation from them after everything is approved.

  2. Email in the Stipend Application form and Supporting Statement (below).

NOTE: We cannot consider your application until we have received an emailed Stipend Application form and Supporting Statement, confirmation of your current course registration, and a signed Participant Stipend Agreement.

All these materials must arrive by the deadline.

Guidelines

  1. When estimating expenses, air travel should be based on 14-day advance purchase or Saturday night stayover tickets. Airfares tend to increase the closer one gets to the departure date, so make sure to book flights well in advance. Whatever airline you use, make sure to check if they offer a student rate on your flight.
  2. Base your accommodation expenses on sharing a hotel room. Please reserve your hotel room well in advance; the hotels tend to fill up fast. Hotel reservations can be cancelled later if you are unable to attend.
  3. Provide complete contact information. We will need to have your current mailing address and your Social Security number so that if you receive a stipend, your check will reach you in a timely manner. Please take into account any address changes you may have near the time of the stipend deadline, for example due to school breaks. You will be notified via email, so make sure your email address is correct on your application.
