From Josephine Bynder, Grants Committee Chair: The Grants Committee is working on writing grant requests to local corporations. It is our experience that it helps our cause if we know an employee of a specific corporation. As you are probably aware, the Chorale has a very tight budget, and grants are a very important source of funds. If any of you work for a corporation that gives some kind of grants, please contact Josephine Bynder (303-444-0256) or jbynder@comcast.net. It is most helpful to know the name of the person at your company who is in charge of making those decisions. We also need to know if we may use your name. If you can make some personal contact with the appropriate person that helps, too. Thanks very much.

From Stephanie Wanek, Fundraising Chair:

A GALA is coming? Members will perform? Yes! Save the date: Sunday, April 30th at the St. Julien Hotel. This is simply an event you can’t miss and there’s more than one reason why….

1) It’s a celebration of 40 years of the Boulder Chorale featuring a Reception, Cocktails, Gourmet Dinner, Anniversary Champagne Toast, Special Surprises to Honor the Chorale and Entertainment by The Dave Fulker Quintet with a few guest stars!

2) There will be a cabaret collection of songs performed by Chorale members with the quintet after dinner. Members interested in performing a cabaret number have until Tuesday, February 14th to identify themselves and indicate the song they’d like to perform. The final selection of participants (approx 8-10) will follow auditions held at Atonement on Saturday, March 11th between 10am-12pm. A sign-up sheet with time slots will be available during future rehearsals. If you’re interested or have questions, please see Gala Planning Committee member Laura Meyers. Complete event details will be in the next newsletter coming out on next week (1/31).

Who’s doing all this work?? In the coming weeks and months, you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot about the 40th Anniversary Gala. We are well underway planning a great party for the Chorale with the involvement of the whole community!! Who is this fabulous team volunteering to coordinate the event? The heroines are Inge Moorby, Risa Booze, Jeannette Hillery, Laura Meyer, Stephanie Wanek, Mary Lou Kizer, DeDe Beardsley and Sharon Soderlund. There will be information for you to read, things to solicit, jobs for you to do, stamps to lick and opportunities for you to earn a free ticket to the gala. Stay in tune and help us drum up interest in this great celebration.

Precision is sometimes worth $1,000…. The Chorale Board is putting a special challenge to the membership. There are 7 days before the end of January and 30 seconds of work can reap great rewards for the Chorale! Every month Precision Plumbing donates $1,000 to the Boulder non-profit with the most votes. We’re thinking January 2006 is our month but we have 1 week to prove it!! We want EVERYONE to nominate the Boulder Chorale before the 31st. Just go to the Precision Plumbing website www.precisionplumbing.com and it will direct you to the nomination page. With your help we can push the votes for the Chorale over the top!! And look for a group email so you can forward this info to your friends through your email list. There’ll be a special surprise in store if we actually win….

Barnes & Noble has CDs of the Mozart that the Chorale is performing in May. The CD was $6.99 and they will be ordering more.
