May 2 is the LAST NIGHT TO PURCHASE TICKETS (through the Chorale) to Saturday's concert!

It is also the last night to return proceeds and unsold tickets. Since these tickets belong to the Boulder Philharmonic, please help us to maintain our working relationship with them by cooperating with complete returns tonight. We need to turn in all of the unsold tickets and proceeds early Wednesday morning, so that the Phil can sell those tickets that we didn't. Thanks ahead of time for that, and for all of you who have been so diligent in ticket sales!

From Peg Gorce, Membership Liaison 303-447-8720:

Please check your Membership Handbooks and know that attendance at Dress Rehearsals is required in order to sing a concert. If you are going to be late to any Dress Rehearsal that you are required to attend, please let your Section Steward know and check-in with her or him when you arrive at that rehearsal. Thank You.

*****************************************************

From Stephanie Wanek, Fundraising Chair:

GROCERY SCRIP

We have LOTS of Grocery Scrip that we need to sell before the budget year ends! So, please stock up on extra scrip for your shopping in the next months, summertime barbeques, or graduation gifts. Your last chances are tomorrow's rehearsal or the Annual Potluck Meeting on 5/8/06. See Dede Beardsley.

MAY NEWSLETTERS are being distributed tomorrow. Catch the last news of the season....

From Karen Haimes, Concert Dress Committee Chair:

AN INTRODUCTION!!!......to your concert dress checkers. 3 chorale members have been kind enough to accept the duties of scanning us all for any irregularities in our concert dress and approaching folks with any concerns noted. These members are: Christie Evenson, Sarah Meyers and Elsbeth Pryer Diehl -- all very friendly and fair! :-)

Let's be sure to make their job fast and easy by complying with the dress code as established. See below for a refresher:

WOMEN

The chosen concert attire for women is required for all female participants. Hemlines are to be 2 inches from the floor, with shoes on.

MEN

Required concert dress for men is black trousers, black tuxedo-like jackets, white (not cream) tuxedo shirts, black bow ties, black studs and black cummerbunds.

EVERYBODY

Shoes are to be all black, preferably dress. Non-black buckles, laces, contrast stitching, etc. are not acceptable. Stockings/and or socks must also be black.

If shoes are open-toed and non-dressy, they should be worn with opague, not sheer, stockings.

No jewelry, other than wedding or engagement rings, may be worn. Watches that can remain concealed are acceptable. Eyeglasses should either be on your eyes or hidden in your folders or elsewhere until needed. Any sparkly hairpieces should be worn so as not to be visible from the front.

Although deodorants should be used during performances, we ask that you please refrain from wearing scented deodorants or other scented perfumes, colognes, shampoos, hairsprays, etc. Some members may be allergic to them, and especially susceptible during close stage contact.

ADVANCE WARNING, as a courtesy, is requested from any members who are not wearing their concert dress clothes. An example of when this might occur is someone who is pregnant and can't fit into her outfit!

Please approach one of your checkers or the concert dress manager-prior to going onstage-with your explanation as to why this is occurring.

UPGRADED WAISTBANDS: I will be making one more mass mailing to Concert Black for those of you who need replacements on either your skirts or slacks. Find me at the annual meeting, on Monday May 8, to give me your item packaged in a separate bag with your name and contact info on it. I will call or email you when they've returned to come pick them up from me.

*****************************************************

Kim Needham will be singing the soprano solo in the Mozart Vespers again on 6/9 with the Arvada Chorale.

Kim Needham will be teaching voice lessons this summer. There will be information flyers available in the lobby on Tuesday night and at the annual meeting. If you need more information, email Kim.

From Josephine Bynder:

In previous years we have had a group of volunteers working at the Bolder Boulder and the Chorale received $10 for each person. In the past few years, our numbers have dwindled, so I am wondering if any members are interested in doing this event this year? It will be on Monday, May 29 and we usually need to get there around 7:00 a.m., work for a couple of hours and then whoever wants to goes out for breakfast. We work with the Optimist Club and are rope holders in front of waves, keeping the waves separate. Please let me know asap if you are interested. Look for me at rehearsal, email me, or call 303-444-0256.

Ask me for details. Thank you.

From Miriam Lindahl, Concert Manager/Riser Queen:

WOMEN’S CHORALE CONCERT USHERS/RISER CREW: how successful everything was ... and all of you share in that. Thanks again to a terrific group of music lovers for donating your time!

CLOSE OUT SALE: Tuesday I will have the last of the CDs available for sale. All are $3.00/each except the Verdi Requiem and the Bernstein Celebration. Those sets are each $15.00. This is your last chance to buy Christmas carols a la Boulder Chorale, for example, to take to the beach, or at your mountain getaway or to enjoy while upgrading the moat at your castle. Correct change—always in style.

Finally, a ‘tip of my tiara’ to Stephanie and her spectacular GALA Committee. The birthday party: Was it not SO much fun?

*****************************************************

The Annual Meeting of the Boulder Chorale will be held on MONDAY, May 8, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in their Jubilee Hall (lower level). *****************************************************
