THE ALUMNI PROJECT

As part of our 40th anniversary festivities, we’d like to reach out to former members and directors of the Chorale. To get started on this, all the old rosters and more recent membership spreadsheets have been combined. The result is over 58 pages and over 1,500 names of former members!! We now need to find current addresses for people still in or around Boulder or Colorado.

These 58 pages will be available in the lobby as an on-going 'Volunteer Opportunity' for Chorale members to take and work on. If everyone pitches in, we should make quick work of this and there are a variety of ways to help.

Some of you can sit in the lobby and manually flip through phone books every week as you wait for rehearsals. Others of you may opt to take home a page to work on at home. Hopefully there are some of you willing to take several pages.

We’d simply like to make a reasonable effort to look these people up but let's not go nuts. These sheets may come back with a question mark under a name or an actual current address. I’ve done several pages using DexOnline.com. Each page takes about 15 minutes and about half of the names aren’t listed anymore. That’s totally OK!! Once you’re done with your page, there will be a drop off box in the office where completed lists can be delivered and collected.

Once these pages come back, we will need to enter them into an Excel database. Any duplicates (there will be many!) will be weeded out in that process. Perhaps someone could even volunteer to take this piece on when it’s time.

When the whole thing is complete, the Chorale have a great new database for Alumni Outreach, fundraising and community activities thanks to your efforts!!

So, please take a page or 2 or come early for rehearsal and hang out in the lobby. There will be spare phonebooks hanging around to work on.

Thanks so much. Stephanie

From Miriam Lindahl, Concert Manager:

Drop by the Marketplace to pick up the few remaining CDs of wonderful past Boulder Chorale performances. All will be on sale along with the Verdi Requiem AFTER practice. Sales were good last week—let’s sell out. Make We Joy, Christmas 2004 is sold out. Correct change of $3.00/each is very helpful. (The 2 CD Verdi is $15.00)

Update on the busses to Denver:

-What: Busses to Denver for rehearsal and performance of the ‘Bernstein Celebration’

-When/Where: REHEARSAL, Monday, November 7, 6:00pm-10:30pm from Atonement to the Hebrew Educational Alliance Center (in south Denver) and/or PERFORMANCE, Saturday, November 12, 4:15pm-10:30pm from Atonement to Congregation Emanuel (near Cherry Creek)

-Why: To alleviate driving to Denver and parking problems

-How much: Based on filling a bus with 55 people….$11.00/each trip or $22.00/both trips. (This does include a tip to the driver.)

-When: Seating goes on sale TONIGHT, Tuesday, 11 October DURING the break. Greg and I will be manning the tables. At this time, we will fill one bus for each trip. (See prices and ## above). Plan to pay by check to the Boulder Chorale. In memo: write Monday, Saturday, or both. After one bus each night is filled, we’ll see what further interest there is. Please note: once the money has been paid and the space reserved there will be no refund unless the space can be filled from a waiting list. Also, we will keep track of those wanting to bring guests.

It is quite a hike to these venues. Do consider the bus!

ANNUAL FUND BROCHURES: TAKE ONE & PASS IT ON!! Every year we send letters to the community requesting donations to support the operations and outreach programs of the Chorale. Many of those supporters include you, our membership! We have redesigned this yearly appeal and created Annual Fund brochures. These will be available in the lobby starting this week. If you are interested in donating or renewing your support to the Chorale, please take a brochure. Inside you'll find a donation card and envelope as well as information about how these funds are used and how valued each and every contribution is to our success.

If you have friends who may be interested in learning more about us, please pass one on! If you have questions, please contact Stephanie at rehearsals or by email. Thanks!
