Board Members, 2005-2006 Season
President – JoAn Segal
JoAn has been a member of the Chorale since 1993, and has served in various board positions, including President. She currently shares the Chorale Archival duties with Josephine Bynder.
JoAn is a librarian and holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Communication. She has served as the head of the Bibliographical Center for Research in Denver, as the Executive Director of the Association of College and Research Libraries, and as Associate Executive Director for Programs of the American Library Association. She remains active in professional library associations, and is currently a volunteer at the American Music Research Center.
JoAn has a small business, Vintage Ventures (the ventures of her vintage years!) which provides library services to law firms in the Boulder area and computer bookkeeping services to a local entrepreneur.
JoAn has been an active volunteer throughout her years as a member of the Chorale. She is in the soprano section and often does poetry readings during our performances.
Vice President of Planning – Elsbeth Pryer Diehl
Elsbeth has served as VP and Chairman of the Planning Committee since 2001. Elsbeth is an individual, relationship, and career counselor. She currently serves on the Architectural Control Committee of the Wonderland Hills IV HOA, having also served six years on the Board of Directors, serving four of those years as President. She was a Victim Advocate with the Boulder County Sheriffs Department and is a member of the Boulder County Crisis Intervention Team.
Treasurer – Jeff Hale
Jeff has been singing in the bass section of the Chorale since 2001. He has prior music experience from his years at Fairview High School where he was a tuba player in the marching band and a member of the Fairview choir.
Jeff is currently a sales manager at McCaddon Cadillac Buick GMC in Boulder. He is married to Julie (alto/Graphic Production) and has three children and one granddaughter.
Secretary – Sharon Soderlund
Sharon has been a member of the chorale since 1997, joining the board in 1998 starting as Publicity Chair and moving on to the Treasurer's position. With last year off for good behavior, she is currently serving as Secretary.
Past President – Sue Hintz-Siegrist
Sue is currently establishing a second career in fiber arts following 20+ years in the field of professional graphic design. Her areas of expertise include weaving and natural fiber dyeing. Sue has served on the Boulder Chorale board as Graphic Production Chair and board President. She has also served in board positions with Restoring Choices for Teens, the Society for Environmental Graphic Design, and the YWCA. In addition to the Boulder Chorale, she has performed in community choirs in Madison, WI and Oak Ridge, TN.
Chamber Chorale Liaison – Mary Weisbach
Mary is a Kindergarten teacher in the Boulder Valley School District. She has sung in the church choir since 1982. She has been with The Boulder Chorale since 2002.
Concert Dress Committee Chair – Karen Haimes
Karen has enjoyed singing with the Boulder Chorale since 1995. In addition to her love of music, Karen has a family she adores and work she relishes, as a nurse promoting wellness for senior citizens throughout the county. Other passions include her book & investment clubs, volunteering for Intercambio de Communidades, and biking, hiking, dancing, cooking and learning.
Concert Manager – Miriam Lindahl
Miriam Lindahl is one of those rare breeds—a true Colorado native. After 26 years of traveling the world with her Air Force husband, Tom, they retired to Boulder. Miriam is a Registered Nurse at Centura St. Anthony’s North. The three precious children have left the nest; they are replaced by the kitties: PB, Luci Ann and Pasha.
Concert Manager Assistant -- Greg Herring
Greg has been an active member of the Chorale since 1999, and has served as tenor section steward for several of those years. In addition to high school and college choral experiences, Greg has sung in a number of church, community and small ensemble choirs. He assists Miriam with concert management.
Fund Raising Chair - Stephanie Wanek
As a native New Yorker and the daughter of a musician, Stephanie is a longtime supporter of the arts. She joined the Chorale in 2002 and sings in the alto section. Renewing her interest in choral singing has been a fun and personally enriching experience. For many years, Stephanie has been active in fundraising, capital campaigns and auction committees and she brings this experience and energy to the Chorale board. Her professional background is in medical malpractice and workers compensation insurance though she currently is a stay-at-home mother. Besides valued time with friends and family, Stephanie’s other activities include tennis, cooking, running and skiing. She is married and has a daughter (1994) and a dog, Zero.
Fund Raising and Grant Assistant – Diane LaTourrette
Diane has sung with the Boulder Chorale for over ten years. She retired after 26 years from Mapleton Rehabilitation, and is currently working part time for Boulder Parks and Recreation helping to create a recreation/leisure program for adults with mild traumatic brain injury. Diane has four grown children and six grandchildren, most living in the Denver metro area. Besides singing, she loves running the trails with her dog Maggie and working on her new hobby, stained glass.
Graphics Production Chair – Julie Hale
Julie is a 2nd Alto and has been singing with the Boulder Chorale since 2001. She was born in Colorado, grew up in Boulder, and is married to another Colorado Native, Jeff Hale (Bass/Treasurer). They have three grown children and an amazing little granddaughter. Julie is a graphic designer who loves to travel and ride her bicycle.
Membership Liaison – Peg Gorce
With suburban Chicago roots, Peg moved to Denver almost thirty years ago. She resumed her singing with church choirs while her children were young and became a member of the Colorado Chorale shortly after completing her Master’s Degree in English Education at the University of Colorado. Moving to Boulder eleven years ago, Peg continued her commutes to various choral venues until joining the Boulder Chorale three years ago. Peg retired after twenty-one years teaching high school English in the Northglenn/Thornton School District. She is looking forward to both additional travel with her husband, Marty, and devoting her volunteer energies to the chorale.
Membership Registration Assistant – Wren Fritzlan
Wren has been singing with the Boulder Chorale since 1992. He is a psychotherapist and program coordinator for the Mental Health Center of Boulder County. Wren grew up singing in church and school choirs. He also sang with the Bach Chorale in Glenwood Springs and Ars Nova. He attended Mesa State College and Naropa University. He served on the Board 1996-2000 as president, secretary, and librarian.
Music Librarian/web guy – Paul Haynes
A retired programmer/analyst, Paul is now a professional grandfather and an occasional tutor in mathematics. He competes in bridge tournaments as a member of the American Contract Bridge League. Paul has been a bass/baritone in The Boulder Chorale since 1995, and the son of a member since 1965. He started his adventures as Music Librarian in 2001 and as web guy in 2004.
