Greetings from the President
Sue Hintz-Siegrist
Dear
Members,
Happy
New Year to all and welcome back to rehearsals for the Boulder Chorale
2004-2005 season. Welcome to the new
members; we are glad to have you with us!
We have a busy spring coming up, filled with wonderful music and
concerts, some neat social/benefit events, and topped off with the tour to
We
have an opportunity to strengthen our good relationship with the Boulder
Philharmonic when we perform the Mozart Requiem in April. Now that we have performed one very
successful concert with them this season, we can really fine-tune this next one
to the benefit of both groups.
The
spring Chamber and Women’s Chorale concert will serve up another treat for our
listeners. Did you catch them at the
Barnes & Noble / Whole Foods holiday benefit performances? They really decked the halls with music to
the delight of all the patrons.
The
Verdi Requiem concert series with the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra will take us
once more to Golden to perform at the
We
have a very cool event coming up in February that is sure to offer something
for everyone: our Winter Benefit at The
Reef Restaurant and Bar (one of
We
will also offer another wonderful benefit evening at the Boulder Dinner
Theater, this time to see “Cats.” Reserve a dinner table with friends and enjoy
an evening of great musical entertainment and costumes.

Benefit Evening Coming!
Mark your calendars and invite your friends. We're having a very special benefit evening celebrating The Boulder Chorale on Sunday, February 27, 2005 from 6-10 pm at The Reef Piano Bar. Tickets will be $40 per person or $75 per couple with wonderful entertainment, hors d'oeuvres buffet and cash bar. We've hired out the whole joint and we'll guarantee a great time!! The night will feature a pianist playing jazz favorites on request and we'll have the drawing of the grand raffle prizes too. Come help us raise funds to support the Chorale; its programs, budget and performances.
The Chorale Membership Raffle Squad
Please stay alert for announcements about the Chorale Raffle. The drawing will be on February 27 at the benefit evening. And from mid-January up to the drawing, you will be a selling machine!! Right now we're gathering lots of great prizes to offer and a $10 raffle ticket can win them. HELP! We definitely need each and every one of you to help sell these tickets to your friends, co-workers, neighbors and community. PRIZE! For every 10 tickets you sell, you'll get a special ticket entering you in a special raffle of your own!! The more tickets you sell, the more chances you earn to increase your chances of winning $50, $75 or $100 in Whole Foods Gift Certificates.
Please see Stephanie with any benefit or raffle questions.

Congratulations to Paul Haynes, Bob Powers and Brad
Walters! It is always fun to win and these men won the “Riser Committee”
door prizes at the end-of-season potluck. Everyone wins when ‘our
heroes’ help during concert week. (Plan to sign up next time and be
eligible for even better prizes!)
Tim’s Mozart and Verdi CD recommendations to me are
recordings featuring the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Robert Shaw
Chorale.

So
we again have a full plate of concerts and activities to look forward to. Your participation as a singing member of
the Chorale, and a helpful volunteer, is what makes this organization
successful and fun. Be prepared for and
arrive at all rehearsals on time. Use
the resources available to improve your musicianship, such as rehearsal tapes
and offered assistance. Volunteer to
help with an event or activity and have fun while you get to know other
members. You are the Boulder
Chorale. It will be what you make of
it.

Happy Second Chorale Semester!! Now that the Section Stewards know most of their respective memberships, they may use their discretion in attendance procedures. Some may continue to use a sign-in sheet, others may take attendance visually, and some may use a combination of both. Based on the rehearsal schedule, each Section Steward may also choose an appropriate time to take attendance. However, each one will have a new Attendance Roster for our Second Semester, and our Attendance Policy as stated in the Membership Handbook will be followed.
Attendance records will begin on January 18th, after the Spring Registration for Basses and Tenors has been completed.

King Soopers Grocery Certificates?
Dede Beardsley
King Soopers gift certificates are the effortless way
for you to make money for the Boulder Chorale.
The key word here is: effortless!
It reminds me of one of my favorite fortunes: “You will earn thousands
of dollars simply by doing nothing!”
How Does It Work?
Through the Boulder Chorale, you buy King Soopers gift
certificates that are as good as cash at King Soopers and at some
Safeways. If you normally spend $200
each month on groceries, you’d buy $200 in certificates and use them as cash
when you shop for groceries.
How do we, the Boulder Chorale, benefit?
We buy the gift certificates at the following
discounts:
·
3% if we purchase
$200-$2499 in certificates
·
4% if we purchase
$2500-$4999 in certificates
·
5% if we purchase $5000
or more in certificates
The key is getting into the 5% bracket. We can do that by each buying just
$50 each month in certificates; that would net the Chorale $250 each
month. If we each bought just $100 each
month, the Chorale would make $500 each month...simply by doing nothing! You do the math.
Details
I will have certificates to sell at the Marketplace
during each rehearsal break. (They come
in $25 increments.) So bring your
checkbooks! Make checks payable to
the Boulder Chorale. They’re great
gifts, too! Throw some in the direction
of your starving college student, for example!
Thanks!
Donate More Stuff!
If you think you missed the chance to unload your
stuff, you’re in luck! The Chorale is
now an On-The-Block Auction client and they will continue to collect and sell
for our organization year-round. The
