Bob has been involved in developing jazz groups in cities where he's lived and worked. He was a founding member of the Queen City Jazz Band and later formed and led the Platte River Jazz Band (in Denver). Playing experience has been in clubs, concerts, and festivals in Colorado, Washinton, California, France and the UK. Much of his time is now devoted to the Poudre River Irregulars (Fort Collins), a traditional jazz group with roots in New Orleans and Chicago jazz. He is a board member of the Northern Colorado Traditional Jazz Society. Working to support the "art form", he loves to mentor students of traditional jazz and develop enthusiastic audiences and venues for presentations. Last August, his Elderhostel program on early jazz (with Jean Peterson and Bill Runyan) was a success. Bob has a stron interest in early jazz cornet and truimpet masters and in understanding the jazz styles of the 20's and 30's.
