Boulder Friends of Jazz presents:
DIXIELAND JAZZ ON THE LAWN

at Boulder County Courthouse lawn
1 to 5 p.m.


1 to 3 p.m. - VIBE TRIBE Kristin Anderson on drums and Rick Weingarten on vibraphone (co-leaders); Roger Topliff, clarinet, saxophone, trombone; Ron D'Ascenz, trumpet; Jenny Karel, bass; Drew Morell, piano, banjo. The Vibe Tribe plays swing and Dixieland music with a twist. They put on an interesting show that pleases all ages. They've been around a long time. This year they can be seen playing at Boulder's Out-to-Lunch series and Creek Festival , Louisville's 4th of July celebration in Memory Square Park, Swing Nights at Mercury Café in Denver, Colorado Rockies games, Westminster Community Artist series, etc.

3 to 5 p.m. - STARS & GARTERS Ted Turner (leader) on banjo; Mark Winkel, tuba; Kevin Wible, trombone; Glen Leinbach, trumpet. The Stars & Garters is a sing-along band that plays familiar standards and obscure novelty songs dating from the mid-1800's to the 1900's. The roots of their musical style date back to Mississippi riverboat days. They encourage audience participation with their engaging personalities and signboards. Ted Turner, on banjo, is a regular with the Poudre River Irregulars Jazz Band from Ft. Collins. This will be their first concert in Boulder.
