NEW ORLEANS JAZZ GATHERING
New Orleans Jazz Gathering was founded by Vern Baumer in
1970. His five-piece band plays New Orleans style jazz. He fronts the
band on clarinet. The band plays at all Central City Jazz
Festivals with Vern leading the all-bands afternoon parade. For the
past 10 years, Vern has coordinated the musical portion of Fort Morgan's
"Festival in the Park". His trio plays the Sunday brunch at
Trios as well
as at many other places. Vern is one of the founders of the BFJ, and for
years was the Jam Session's musical director. He is on the Board of
Directors and is a former president.
DIXIELAND EXPRESS
Dixieland Express, led by Albert Galli on clarinet, was started
in 1988 by six Aurora Public School teachers. Now that most are retired,
they have blossomed into a band that is in demand at many local summer
festivals. For the past six years, they have entertained at the YMCA
of the Rockies in Estes Park. They have played ay many private
parties, open houses, ice cream socials, promotional events, conventions,
happy hours, brunches, banquets, wine and cheese tastings, etc.
