How to Burn a Slash Pile in Four Mile Canyon

1) Get a permit from the Boulder County Health Department. This is the least important step. You can specify that you will burn sometime over a three month period.

2) Your slash pile must be smaller than a small car (10'X10'X10").

3) Make sure that there are no contiguous fuels (i.e. grass or duff touching your pile and leading to nearby trees).

4) You must have the following weather conditions at all times during your burn:
Air temperature LESS than 75 F
Relative humidity GREATER than 30%
Winds LESS than 10mph

5) The day before you burn, notify Fire Chief Bret Gibson at 303-444-0882 (Boulder Mtn Lodge).

6) The day before you burn, notify the Fire Dispatch Communications Center at 303-441-4444.

7) Your fire must be out cold by 5 pm.
