Project RESPECT! provides help to teen girls who are dealing with a pregnancy. This is an adjunctive service meant to be used in conjunction with other services needed by the teen. The program is based on the principals of behavior modification. Girls attending our program have shown more of a likeliness to succeed in their life goals and as a parent.

Project RESPECT! provides a workshop which focuses on pregnancy prevention, abuse prevention, adoption, parenting and self-esteem. The teens also receive books for themselves and their children and participate in activities that lead them to having healthier hobbies. Our volunteers work with area businesses and non-profits to find donations of food for the day, books, toys and other necessary items. One of our volunteers is also organizing a mother/daughter day to help rebuild the connection between teen moms and their own mothers.

Teens are supported as they set some reasonable, reachable goals and volunteers help them reach towards these goals. This not only allows the teens to succeed, but to start the wheel of lifetime success and self-respect. Girls participate in an incentive program which includes a lunch meeting with a female role model, receiving a certificate of accomplishment and a silver ring which symbolizes their achievement. Upon graduating from our program, the girls receive a plaque and graduate into working on bigger life goals. Many come to volunteer with Project RESPECT! Throughout the program, girls receive letters from volunteers encouraging them in their goals.

To refer a teen mom to our program, please call The Angel Foundation at (303) 460-1551 for application materials. Our next teen workshop will be held in March. Pregnant and parenting moms between the ages of 13 and 21 are welcome to participate in this program and are generally referred through another agency or organization such as a school, clinic or non-profit.
