The Volunteer Spotlights shine on Paul von Behren, who radiates energy and talent upon the Boulder Community Network and the Boulder region.
Paul came to BCN five years ago when his employer, StorageTech, offered to match employee volunteer hours with cash donations.
He now works for Sun Microsystems, who has several volunteers involved with BCN.
Among Paul's many acomplishments at BCN, he recently completed the design of the database search procedure for the Volunteer Connection web site.
Von Behren says he wanted something good to do, and this was a good community-spirited project.
As chair of our Technical Advisory Committee, Paul is a leader of BCN volunteers, to bring innovation to the community.
Paul has spent many hours fine tuning the BCN web host server; providing a much better search engine for BCN; helping make BCN's web pages more accessible to people with disabilities and a diversity of web browsers; a great deal of work on the BASIN project; Boulder Energy Conservation Center; Dushambe Sister City site; and many other
projects.
This work has brought forth improvements in performance for all of BCN's non-for-profit clients and visitors.
Volunteering has provided Paul with the opportunity to meet other volunteers with similar interests, and to become aware of the different nonprofits in Boulder, some of which he didn't even know existed.
We are glad to have Paul on board and we are always excited to have new volunteers. BCN acknowledges all our volunteers who contribute to BCN's success. Our classes, center sites, tech support, web development, and technical assessment services are important in brining technology and information to the community.
This could not happen without VOLUNTEERS! Thanks for making the difference!!
