The N-SIG has participated in the Longmont Scout Show the last 2 years now as guests of N-SIG member Jeremy Mahoney who is also a member of Troop 268.
Our philosophy for this event, as is the philosophy of the Scout Show, is that the Scouts show off their talents to other Scouts. We took it a step further by teaching the Scouts of Jeremy’s troop some basic scenery skills that they then passed on to other Scouts. The results were impressive and there are now a number of motivated scouts out there who can turn the oval of track on plywood into something that looks like a model railroad. The technique we passed on was the same used to scenic the ‘big’ layout resulting in significant ‘wow, I can do this’ realizations.
