Macintosh Operating Systems
Macintosh computer operating systems are expected to be fully
Y2K compliant; as the Macintosh handles the transition to the year 2000.
(Theoretically, the system can handle dates all the way up to about 29,940
AD!)

To verify that your Macintosh does indeed handle the end of
the year 1999 transition, do the following -
- Open the Date and Time control panel.
- Either type or select the current date to 12/31/99.
- Either type or select the current time to 11:59:00PM.
- Select Shut Down from the Special Menu, and shut down the computer for at least one minute.
- Restart the computer.
- Check the current date and time in the Date and Time panel. It should show
1/1/00 and a time around 12:01:10 AM.
To verify that your Macintosh does handle the leap year transition, do
the following -
- Open the Date and Time control panel.
- Either type or select the current date to 2/28/00.
- Either type or select the current time to 11:59:00PM.
- Select Shut Down from the Special Menu, and shut down the computer for at least one minute.
- Restart the computer.
- Check the current date and time in the Date and Time panel. It should show
2/29/00 and a time around 12:01:05 AM.
Remember to reset the date and time back to current values
when you are done.
