The Minority Résumé Exchange (MRE) is a nonprofit employment services corporation (501(c)(3)) headquartered in beautiful Boulder, Colorado at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The mission of the MRE is to assist Boulder and Denver area employers with their human resource recruitment and diversity goals, while attracting and retaining ethnic minorities to Boulder, Colorado.

The MRE was developed in 1991 by the Minority Business Leadership Council of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Boulder Area Human Resource Association (BAHRA) and was governed by the local Private Industry Councils board of directors. In 1994, the MRE incorporated as a private nonprofit corporation with primary sponsorship by the City of Boulder, Boulder County and private industry throughout Boulder County and Denver, and is governed by a board of directors consisting of local community and business leaders.

The MREs primary service to job seekers is to circulate their résumés to MRE member employers that have current job openings. The MRE maintains job seeker information including, personal, educational and job skill data which is received from their résumés and follow-up telephone interviews. Their information is then input into a quarterly updated data bank. The data bank allows MRE staff to match job seeker skills to MRE member positions. In the case of a job/skills match, the job seeker will, in most cases, be contacted by MRE staff by telephone, facsimile, electronic mail or the postal service, prior to their résumé being provided to the MRE member employer. This process ensures the job seekers commitment to being considered for the position(s). MRE services are provided at no charge to job seekers.

The MRE provides member employers with résumés of job seekers with job skills that match every open position submitted to the MRE, on a weekly basis. Also, every open position received from MRE member employers is listed weekly onto the job listings page of the MRE website. Additional services provided to MRE member employers include:

Membership for employers is based on the employers full-time employee count.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SEND THE MRE MY RESUME?

The MRE scans your résumé into a graphic file data base and requires the best original copy possible. The MRE also uses optical character reading software which recognizes characters (letters & numbers), but has difficulty recognizing borders, clip art, etc., so please use a basic font, with bolding where desired, 10 to 14 point size, in any format desired (functional or chronological).

The best way to send your résumé is through the mail in a 9 X 11 envelope or hand deliver to: 2905 Center Green Court South, suite C, Boulder, Colorado 80301. If the above options will not work for you, you may fax your résumé to: (303) 939-0054 or (303) 443-7615.

WHAT HAPPENS ONCE YOU RECEIVE MY RESUME?

Once we receive your résumé it is analyzed according to your work experience, skills, education, certification, etc. and is categorized into general occupations/professions, e.g. Professional/Technical/Managerial. Then into an initial subcategory, e.g. Architectural, Engineering & Drafting and then further into a final subcategory, e.g. Engineers.

After analyzing your résumé you will receive a call from an MRE staff member to acquire additional personal information, i.e. additional communication methods; additional telephone numbers and the best times to call, gender, ethnicity, geographic preference, etc. (Due to requirements of MRE funders and for statistical reporting.)

After all pertinent information is gathered, your résumé is input into a data bank and your résumé is scanned into a graphic file data bank, enabling the MRE to electronically send your résumé to potential employers.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY RESUME MATCHES A JOB OPENING?

Job announcements are received daily by the MRE and a match to job seekers résumés are attempted daily. If your résumé is a general match, MRE will attempt to contact you via telephone to describe the position to you and ask whether you would like your résumé sent to the requesting employer. Contact is not always possible and your résumé may be forwarded to an employer without you being contacted before hand. At this point of the process the employer will take responsibility to contact you for an interview.

HOW LONG DOES THE MRE KEEP A RESUME ON FILE?

After your résumé is input into the MRE data bank, you will be contacted by mail every three (3) months to ask for updated information or whether you wish to continue being registered with the MRE. If you do not respond to the mailing within the stated time given, your résumé will automatically be deleted from the data bank.
