WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE:

We help people find jobs and help them discover the career fields that will best match their interests and skills. We help with job search strategies, networking, resumes, interviews, and researching companies. We also offer counseling and career testing to help you figure out what kinds of jobs you want, and how to get them. Please call for further information.

Our services include:

• Individual Career Counseling and Job Search Help ($3- $35/hr; sliding scale)
• Career Interest and Personality Tests: Strong Interest Inventory, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (sliding scale; call for details)
• Job Search Support Groups ($20 for 4 weeks)
• Interviewing Workshops ($10)
• Videotaped Interviewing Practice Sessions ($5-$35)
• Computers and Laser Printer for resume and cover letter writing and printing ($4/hr; $0.25/page)
• Special Workshop Series on Career Change and Job Search (approx. 25 workshops/year) ($10)
• "What Do I Want to Be When I Grow Up" -- a Career Change class ($49)
• Free drop-in Career Resource Center with job listings, books, magazines, newspapers and other materials on career planning, resume writing, interviewing tips, networking, and a variety of other subjects related to the job search.

Open to anyone over 16

WHO DO I CONTACT:

Usually you need to call (443-0419) in advance to make an appointment to meet with a career advisor or sign up for a workshop. If you want to research careers or check out job listings, you can just drop by without an appointment and use our Career Resource Center. Computers are also available without an appointment during our business hours.

HOW DOES IT WORK:

You are welcome to use as many or as few of our services as you like; just call to sign up. You can use our services in any order.

WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR SUCCESS:

Most of our clients report being very satisfied with our services, and an average of at least 65% have found jobs or started retraining in a career they like within 3 months of coming to the YWCA.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST:

Our Resource Center is free; costs for all other services are listed above. Many of our fees are based on your family income and number of people in your family. You can call to find out your exact fee. If you are having severe financial problems, we can sometimes negotiate a lower fee.
