I've been watching with interest and concern the recent forest fires north and south of us and wondering about what we are and should be doing in the short and long term to protect ourselfs, our property and the water quality and quantity during what looks like at least a year of drought.
How do we assure ourselves that we are coming from a place of risk management and not crisis management?
What if I do what's needed to be done and my neighbors don't so that the danger isn't sufficiently decreased?
Should there be stronger conditions put on new building? Should we treat fire hazard in the mountains similar to fire code requirements for buildings?
