Remediation at the Source

Once the extent of gasoline contamination is determined, a remedial plan is devised, approved, and implemented.  The first step in cleaning up, or remediating, a LUST site is removal of the leaking tank.  Tanks are removed by excavation.

In some cases, contaminated soil is also removed and trucked to a hazardous waste facility for disposal or remediation (incineration, biological treatment).
